We have not stopped praying for you since the first day we heard about you. In fact, we always pray that God will show you everything he wants you to do and that you may have all the wisdom and understanding his Spirit gives.

God has seen how I never stop praying for you, while I serve him with all my heart and tell the good news about his Son.

Night and day I mention you in my prayers. I am always grateful for you, as I pray to the God my ancestors and I have served with a clear conscience.

Day and night we sincerely pray that we will see you again and help you to have an even stronger faith.

I don't have any reason to brag about preaching the good news. Preaching is something God told me to do, and if I don't do it, I am doomed.

The next day Moses told the people, “This is a terrible thing you have done. But I will go back to the Lord to see if I can do something to keep this sin from being held against you.”

They told Samuel, “Please, pray to the Lord your God for us! We don't want to die. We have sinned many times in the past, and we were very wrong to ask for a king.”

The Lord said to me: Even if Moses and Samuel were here, praying with you, I wouldn't change my mind. So send the people of Judah away.

If I really had spoken to those prophets, they would know what I am going to do. Then they would be begging me not to let everything else be taken from the temple and the king's palace and the rest of Jerusalem.

“All right,” I answered, “I will pray to the Lord your God, and I will tell you everything he says.”

Samuel was upset to hear the leaders say they wanted a king, so he prayed about it.

Do you want to live and enjoy a long life?

Jerusalem, we pray that you will have peace, and that all will go well for those who love you.

Whether you turn to the right or to the left, you will hear a voice saying, “This is the road! Now follow it.”
