God paid a great price for you. So don't become slaves of anyone else.

He gave himself to rescue us from everything evil and to make our hearts pure. He wanted us to be his own people and to be eager to do right.

Christ obeyed God our Father and gave himself as a sacrifice for our sins to rescue us from this evil world.

As a follower of the Lord, I order you to stop living like stupid, godless people.

They know about God, but they don't honor him or even thank him. Their thoughts are useless, and their stupid minds are in the dark.

You have already lived long enough like people who don't know God. You were immoral and followed your evil desires. You went around drinking and partying and carrying on. In fact, you even worshiped disgusting idols.

Your faith will be like gold that has been tested in a fire. And these trials will prove that your faith is worth much more than gold that can be destroyed. They will show that you will be given praise and honor and glory when Jesus Christ returns.

The Lord said: I will punish Judah for countless crimes, and I won't change my mind. They have rejected my teachings and refused to obey me. They were led astray by the same false gods their ancestors worshiped.

Don't trust in violence or depend on dishonesty or rely on great wealth.

and it disappears like a shadow. Our struggles are senseless; we store up more and more, without ever knowing who will get it all.

So I warned the children not to act like their parents or follow their evil ways or worship their idols.

We have promised to worship the goddess Astarte, the Queen of Heaven, and that is exactly what we are going to do. We will burn incense and offer sacrifices of wine to her, just as we, our ancestors, our kings, and our leaders did when we lived in Jerusalem and the other towns of Judah. We had plenty of food back then. We were well off, and nothing bad ever happened to us.

Our Lord, you are the one who gives me strength and protects me like a fortress when I am in trouble. People will come to you from distant nations and say, “Our ancestors worshiped false and useless gods,

They were stubborn and worshiped Baal, just as their ancestors did.

When disaster comes, the Lord will tell you people of Jerusalem, “I am sending a windstorm from the desert— not a welcome breeze. And it will sweep you away as punishment for your sins.

The Scriptures also say, “The Lord knows that the plans made by wise people are useless.”

Turn back to me! I have rescued you and swept away your sins as though they were clouds.

The Lord says: My people, you were sold, but not for money; now you will be set free, but not for a payment.

Then Christ went once for all into the most holy place and freed us from sin forever. He did this by offering his own blood instead of the blood of goats and bulls.

You know Christ came to take away our sins. He isn't sinful,

What could you give to get back your soul?
