One day when Jeroboam was leaving Jerusalem, he met Ahijah, a prophet from Shiloh. No one else was anywhere around. Suddenly, Ahijah took off his new coat and ripped it into twelve pieces.

Your body will grow feeble, your teeth will decay, and your eyesight fail.

We can expect seventy years, or maybe eighty, if we are healthy, but even our best years bring trouble and sorrow. Suddenly our time is up, and we disappear.

Jeroboam told his wife: Disguise yourself so no one will know you're my wife, then go to Shiloh, where the prophet Ahijah lives. Take him ten loaves of bread, some small cakes, and honey, and ask him what will happen to our son. He can tell you, because he's the one who told me I would become king.

After Israel had captured the land, they met at Shiloh and set up the sacred tent.

Moses was 120 years old when he died, yet his eyesight was still good, and his body was strong.

Isaac was old and almost blind, when he called in his first-born son Esau, who asked him, “Father, what can I do for you?”
