When Jesus heard this, he said, “His sickness won't end in death. It will bring glory to God and his Son.”

A large crowd was following Jesus, and in the crowd a lot of women were crying and weeping for him.

“We played the flute, but you would not dance! We sang a funeral song, but you would not mourn!”

I, the Lord, will make the descendants of David and the people of Jerusalem feel deep sorrow and pray when they see the one they pierced with a spear. They will mourn and weep for him, as parents weep over the death of their only child or their first-born.

David started trembling. Then he went up to the room above the city gate to cry. As he went, he kept saying, “My son Absalom! My son, my son Absalom! I wish I could have died instead of you! Absalom, my son, my son!”

Moses did so and stayed there 40 days and nights. To the people, the Lord's glory looked like a blazing fire on top of the mountain.

Jesus went into the house, but he did not let anyone else go with him, except Peter, John, James, and the girl's father and mother.

The people laughed at him because they knew she was dead.

A crowd had gathered to see the terrible sight. Then after they had seen it, they felt brokenhearted and went home.
