The people of Judah say to each other, “What are we waiting for? Let's run to a town with walls and die there. We rebelled against the Lord, and we were sentenced to die by drinking poison.

Run for your lives, people of Benjamin. Get out of Jerusalem. Sound a trumpet in Tekoa and light a signal fire in Beth-Haccherem. Soon you will be struck by disaster from the north.

So Joshua and the Israelites almost wiped out the enemy soldiers. Only a few safely reached their walled towns.

Sound a warning! Israel, you broke our agreement and ignored my teaching. Now an eagle is swooping down to attack my land.

Everyone is terrified when a lion roars— and ordinary people become prophets when the Lord God speaks.

Sound the trumpet on Zion, the Lord's sacred hill. Warn everyone to tremble! The judgment day of the Lord is coming soon.

Have someone make two trumpets out of hammered silver. These will be used to call the people together and to give the signal for moving your camp.

Morning, noon, and night an overwhelming flood will wash you away. The terrible things that happen will teach you this lesson:
