He said, "Lord, they killed your prophets and destroyed your altars. I am the only one left, and now they want to kill me."

I even hid one hundred of the LORD's prophets in caves when Jezebel was trying to kill them. I also gave them food and water.

In spite of this, they rebelled and disobeyed your laws. They killed your prophets, who warned them to turn back to you, and they cursed your name.

I tried punishing you, but you refused to come back to me, and like fierce lions you killed my prophets.
