Be smart, all you rulers, and pay close attention.

You love justice and hate evil. And so, your God chose you and made you happier than any of your friends.

No matter how much you know or what plans you make, you can't defeat the LORD.

The Spirit of the LORD God has taken control of me! The LORD has chosen and sent me to tell the oppressed the good news, to heal the brokenhearted, and to announce freedom for prisoners and captives.

When Herod found out that the wise men from the east had tricked him, he was very angry. He gave orders for his men to kill all the boys who lived in or near Bethlehem and were two years old and younger. This was based on what he had learned from the wise men.

At that time the chief priests and the nation's leaders were meeting at the home of Caiaphas the high priest.

The chief priests and the whole council wanted to put Jesus to death. So they tried to find some people who would tell lies about him in court.

Early the next morning all the chief priests and the nation's leaders met and decided that Jesus should be put to death.

At that time some Pharisees came to Jesus and said, "You had better get away from here! Herod wants to kill you."

The first thing Andrew did was to find his brother and tell him, "We have found the Messiah!" The Hebrew word "Messiah" means the same as the Greek word "Christ."

Everyone who hates me also hates my Father.

The Son was sent to speak God's message, and he has been given the full power of God's Spirit.

God gave the Holy Spirit and power to Jesus from Nazareth. He was with Jesus, as he went around doing good and healing everyone who was under the power of the devil.

He fell to the ground and heard a voice that said, "Saul! Saul! Why are you so cruel to me?"

You loved justice and hated evil, and so I, your God, have chosen you. I appointed you and made you happier than any of your friends."
