The LORD saw how bad the people on earth were and that everything they thought and planned was evil.

what chance do humans have? We are so terribly evil that we thirst for sin.

Their prophets lie and say, "The LORD won't punish us. We will have peace and plenty of food."

And you'll find they are hard like bronze and iron. They are stubborn rebels, always spreading lies. *

You are a bunch of evil snakes, so how can you say anything good? Your words show what is in your hearts.

Out of your heart come evil thoughts, murder, unfaithfulness in marriage, vulgar deeds, stealing, telling lies, and insulting others.

But God said to him, "You fool! Tonight you will die. Then who will get what you have stored up?"

At that time you did not know about Christ. You were foreigners to the people of Israel, and you had no part in the promises that God had made to them. You were living in this world without hope and without God,

Such people claim to know God, but their actions prove that they really don't. They are disgusting. They won't obey God, and they are too worthless to do anything good.

We used to be stupid, disobedient, and foolish, as well as slaves of all sorts of desires and pleasures. We were evil and jealous. Everyone hated us, and we hated everyone.

But I will tell you what will happen to cowards and to everyone who is unfaithful or dirty-minded or who murders or is sexually immoral or uses witchcraft or worships idols or tells lies. They will be thrown into that lake of fire and burning sulfur. This is the second death.

Don't pay any attention to that good-for-nothing Nabal. His name means "fool," and it really fits him! I didn't see the men you sent,
