You made a solemn promise to David, when you said, "I, the LORD, promise that someone in your family will always be king.

God is no mere human! He doesn't tell lies or change his mind. God always keeps his promises.

He will be great and will be called the Son of God Most High. The Lord God will make him king, as his ancestor David was.

But David was a prophet, and he knew that God had made a promise he would not break. He had told David that someone from his own family would someday be king.

God cannot tell lies! And so his promises and vows are two things that can never be changed. We have run to God for safety. Now his promises should greatly encourage us to take hold of the hope that is right in front of us.

Besides, the eternal God of Israel isn't a human being. He doesn't tell lies or change his mind."
