Everyone tells lies, and no one is sincere.
(SEE 12:23)
They curse and tell lies, and all they talk about is how to be cruel or how to do wrong.
though in my confusion I said, "I can't trust anyone!"
Won't you keep me safe from those lying foreigners who can't tell the truth?
of those lying foreigners who can't tell the truth.
Don't drag me away, LORD, with those cruel people, who speak kind words, while planning trouble.
All who want me dead set traps to catch me, and those who want to harm and destroy me plan and plot all day.
When visitors come, all they ever bring are worthless words, and when they leave, they spread gossip.
Nothing they say is true! They just want to destroy. Their words are deceitful like a hidden pit, and their tongues are good only for telling lies.
His words were smoother than butter, and softer than olive oil. But hatred filled his heart, and he was ready to attack with a sword.
My enemies are liars! So let them be trapped by their boastful lies.
You want to bring me down from my place of honor. You love to tell lies, and when your words are kind, hatred hides in your heart.
Stay away from gossips-- they tell everything.
There are many who say, "You can trust me!" But can they be trusted?
Flattery is nothing less than setting a trap.
So you must say to them: People of Judah, I am the LORD your God, but you have refused to obey me, and you didn't change when I punished you. And now, you no longer even pretend to be faithful to me.
They say they want peace, but this lie is deadly, like an arrow that strikes when you least expect it.
The people will hear no more useless warnings and false messages.
No one is loyal to God; no one does right. Everyone is brutal and eager to deceive everyone else.
They want to serve themselves and not Christ the Lord. Their flattery and fancy talk fool people who don't know any better.
You also know that we didn't try to flatter anyone. God himself knows that what we did wasn't a cover-up for greed.
