Do something, LORD! They have broken your Law.

Abraham named that place "The LORD Will Provide." And even now people say, "On the mountain of the LORD it will be provided."

He answered, "LORD God All-Powerful, I've always done my best to obey you. But your people have broken their solemn promise to you. They have torn down your altars and killed all your prophets, except me. And now they are even trying to kill me!"

You will show pity to Zion because the time has come.

We, your servants, love each stone in the city, and we are sad to see them lying in the dirt.

Do something, LORD! Don't let the nations win. Make them stand trial in your court of law.

For a long time, I, the LORD, have held my temper; now I will scream and groan like a woman giving birth.

You say, "We are wise because we have the teachings and laws of the LORD." But I say that your teachers have turned my words into lies!

Laws cannot be enforced; justice is always the loser; criminals crowd out honest people and twist the laws around.

But you have turned your backs on me. Your teachings have led others to do sinful things, and you have broken the agreement I made with your ancestor Levi.

Is this any way to show respect to your parents? You ignore God's commands in order to follow your own teaching.

Do we destroy the Law by our faith? Not at all! We make it even more powerful.

If Abraham and his descendants were given this promise because they had obeyed a law, then faith would mean nothing, and the promise would be worthless.

When only a few of the LORD's people remain, when their strength is gone, and some of them are slaves, the LORD will feel sorry for them and give them justice.
