I praise the LORD your God. He is pleased with you and has made you king of Israel. The LORD loves Israel, so he has given them a king who will rule fairly and honestly.

Everyone in Israel was amazed when they heard how Solomon had made his decision. They realized that God had given him wisdom to judge fairly.

Please make me wise and teach me the difference between right and wrong. Then I will know how to rule your people. If you don't, there is no way I could rule this great nation of yours.

Hiram was so happy when he heard Solomon's request that he said, "I am grateful that the LORD gave David such a wise son to be king of that great nation!"

The LORD has blessed me with many sons, but he chose my son Solomon to be the next king of Israel.

You are our mighty King, a lover of fairness, who sees that justice is done everywhere in Israel.

An honest ruler makes the nation strong; a ruler who takes bribes will bring it to ruin.

Every honest leader rules with help from me.

Jerusalem, I will choose judges and advisors like those you had before. Your new name will be "Justice and Faithfulness."

I promise that the time will come when I will appoint a king from the family of David, a king who will be honest and rule with justice.

You control human events-- you give rulers their power and take it away, and you are the source of wisdom and knowledge.

Obey the rulers who have authority over you. Only God can give authority to anyone, and he puts these rulers in their places of power.

I looked and saw that heaven was open, and a white horse was there. Its rider was called Faithful and True, and he is always fair when he judges or goes to war.

On the part of the robe that covered his thigh was written, "KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS."

One day he said, "Samuel, I've rejected Saul, and I refuse to let him be king any longer. Stop feeling sad about him. Put some olive oil in a small container and go visit a man named Jesse, who lives in Bethlehem. I've chosen one of his sons to be my king."

Samuel looked at Saul, and the LORD told Samuel, "This is the man I told you about. He's the one who will rule Israel."
