There are no more miracles and no more prophets. Who knows how long it will be like this?

The magicians were suffering so much from the sores, that they could not even come to Moses.

I make liars of false prophets and fools of fortunetellers. I take human wisdom and turn it into nonsense.

Some of the people said, "Let's get rid of Jeremiah! We will always have priests to teach us God's laws, as well as wise people to give us advice, and prophets to speak the LORD's messages. So, instead of listening to Jeremiah any longer, let's accuse him of a crime."

Mourn in silence and don't show that you are grieving. Don't remove your turban or take off your sandals; don't cover your face to show your sorrow, or eat the food that mourners eat."

Then you will do the same things I have done. You will leave your face uncovered and refuse to eat the food that mourners usually eat.

If you ever have leprosy, you must tear your clothes, leave your hair uncombed, cover the lower part of your face, and go around shouting, "I'm unclean! I'm unclean!"

I, the LORD, also promise you a terrible shortage, but not of food and water. You will hunger and thirst to hear my message.

Someday you will beg the LORD to help you, but he will turn away because of your sins.

Nations will see this and be ashamed because of their helpless armies. They will be in shock, unable to speak or hear,

Those prophets will be ashamed of their so-called visions, and they won't deceive anyone by dressing like a true prophet.

Saul asked God, "Should I attack the Philistines? Will you help us win?" This time God did not answer.

"Why are you bothering me by bringing me up like this?" Samuel asked. "I'm terribly worried," Saul answered. "The Philistines are about to attack me. God has turned his back on me and won't answer any more by prophets or by dreams. What should I do?"

So he asked the LORD what to do. But the LORD would not answer, either in a dream or by a priest or a prophet.

"Great!" Saul replied. "Let's go to the man who can see visions!" He said this because in those days God would answer questions by giving visions to prophets. Saul and his servant went to the town where the prophet lived.
