But, our God, you are merciful and quick to forgive; you are loving, kind, and very patient. So you never turned away from them--

You are merciful, LORD! You are kind and patient and always loving.

Yet God was kind. He kept forgiving their sins and didn't destroy them. He often became angry, but never lost his temper.

But you, the Lord God, are kind and merciful. You don't easily get angry, and your love can always be trusted.

You willingly forgive, and your love is always there for those who pray to you.

Since neither of them could pay him back, the moneylender said that they didn't have to pay him anything. Which one of them will like him more?"

Simon answered, "I suppose it would be the one who had owed more and didn't have to pay it back." "You are right," Jesus said.

Then the Israelites got rid of the idols of the foreign gods, and they began worshiping only the LORD. Finally, there came a time when the LORD could no longer stand to see them suffer.
