Some of the teachers of the Law of Moses were Pharisees, and they saw that Jesus was eating with sinners and tax collectors. So they asked his disciples, "Why does he eat with tax collectors and sinners?"

And then they say to others, "Don't come near us! We're dedicated to God." Such people are like smoke, irritating my nose all day.

If the follower refuses to listen to them, report the matter to the church. Anyone who refuses to listen to the church must be treated like an unbeliever or a tax collector.

If you love only those people who love you, will God reward you for that? Even tax collectors love their friends.

Some Pharisees asked Jesus' disciples, "Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and other sinners?"

Later, Jesus and his disciples were having dinner at Levi's house. Many tax collectors and other sinners had become followers of Jesus, and they were also guests at the dinner.

"Why would he say such a thing? He must think he is God! Only God can forgive sins."

The Pharisee stood over by himself and prayed, "God, I thank you that I am not greedy, dishonest, and unfaithful in marriage like other people. And I am really glad that I am not like that tax collector over there.

The Son of Man came to look for and to save people who are lost."

Everyone who saw this started grumbling, "This man Zacchaeus is a sinner! And Jesus is going home to eat with him."

The Pharisees and some of their teachers of the Law of Moses grumbled to Jesus' disciples, "Why do you eat and drink with those tax collectors and other sinners?"

and so there was a lot of shouting. Some of the teachers of the Law of Moses were Pharisees. Finally, they became angry and said, "We don't find anything wrong with this man. Maybe a spirit or an angel really did speak to him."

People who are guided by the Spirit can make all kinds of judgments, but they cannot be judged by others.

So keep your mind on Jesus, who put up with many insults from sinners. Then you won't get discouraged and give up.
