The poor and the needy will be treated with fairness and with justice. His word will be law everywhere in the land, and criminals will be put to death.

The earth is under a curse; its people are dying out because of their sins.

Someone is shouting: "Clear a path in the desert! Make a straight road for the LORD our God.

That's why I don't allow your priests to serve me; I let Israel be destroyed and your people disgraced.

This is the year when the LORD God will show kindness to us and punish our enemies. The LORD has sent me to comfort those who mourn,

I, the LORD God, promise to see that you are killed and that my chosen servants use your names as curse words. But I will give new names to my servants.

Everyone in Israel has stubbornly refused to obey your laws, and so those curses written by your servant Moses have fallen upon us.

Tend those sheep because I, the LORD, will no longer have pity on the people of this earth. I'll turn neighbor against neighbor and make them slaves of a king. They will bring disaster on the earth, and I'll do nothing to rescue any of them.

Nowhere in the land will more than a third of them be left alive.

Here is what the LORD will do to those who attack Jerusalem: While they are standing there, he will make their flesh rot and their eyes fall from their sockets and their tongues drop out.

But first, he will bring many nations to attack Jerusalem--homes will be robbed, women raped, and half of the population dragged off, though the others will be allowed to remain.

Then he told me: This scroll puts a curse on everyone in the land who steals or tells lies. The writing on one side tells about the destruction of those who steal, while the writing on the other side tells about the destruction of those who lie.

This made the king so furious that he sent an army to kill those murderers and burn down their city.

Peter remembered what Jesus had said to the tree. Then Peter said, "Teacher, look! The tree you put a curse on has dried up."

You, my son, will be called a prophet of God in heaven above. You will go ahead of the Lord to get everything ready for him.

But land that produces only thornbushes is worthless. It is likely to fall under God's curse, and in the end it will be set on fire.

From his mouth a sharp sword went out to attack the nations. He will rule them with an iron rod and will show the fierce anger of God All-Powerful by trampling the grapes in the pit where wine is made.

God's curse will no longer be on the people of that city. He and the Lamb will be seated there on their thrones, and its people will worship God
