It is better to live right and be poor than to be sinful and rich.

You are better off to be humble and poor than to get rich from what you take by force.

It's better to be poor and live right than to be a stupid liar.

The poor and the needy will celebrate and shout because of the LORD, the holy God of Israel.

When Jesus saw the crowds, he went up on the side of a mountain and sat down. Jesus' disciples gathered around him,

My little group of disciples, don't be afraid! Your Father wants to give you the kingdom.

Then when you have been thrown outside, you will weep and grit your teeth because you will see Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and all the prophets in God's kingdom.

After Jesus had finished speaking, one of the guests said, "The greatest blessing of all is to be at the banquet in God's kingdom!"

Abraham answered, "My friend, remember that while you lived, you had everything good, and Lazarus had everything bad. Now he is happy, and you are in pain.

"The Lord's Spirit has come to me, because he has chosen me to tell the good news to the poor. The Lord has sent me to announce freedom for prisoners, to give sight to the blind, to free everyone who suffers,

They encouraged the followers and begged them to remain faithful. They told them, "We have to suffer a lot before we can get into God's kingdom."

and we are always happy, even in times of suffering. Although we are poor, we have made many people rich. And though we own nothing, everything is ours.

Although they were going through hard times and were very poor, they were glad to give generously.

You know that our Lord Jesus Christ was kind enough to give up all his riches and become poor, so that you could become rich.

So, when you accepted the message, you followed our example and the example of the Lord. You suffered, but the Holy Spirit made you glad.

All of this shows that God judges fairly and that he is making you fit to share in his kingdom for which you are suffering.

God will bless you, if you don't give up when your faith is being tested. He will reward you with a glorious life, just as he rewards everyone who loves him.

My dear friends, pay attention. God has given a lot of faith to the poor people in this world. He has also promised them a share in his kingdom that he will give to everyone who loves him.

I know how much you suffer and how poor you are, but you are rich. I also know the cruel things being said about you by people who claim to be Jews. But they are not really Jews. They are a group that belongs to Satan.

You lift the poor and homeless out of the garbage dump and give them places of honor in royal palaces. You set the world on foundations, and they belong to you.
