No land may be permanently bought or sold. It all belongs to me--it isn't your land, and you only live there for a little while.

"I live as a foreigner in your land, and I don't own any property where I can bury my wife. Please let me buy a piece of land."

Jacob answered, "I have lived only a hundred thirty years, and I have had to move from place to place. My parents and my grandparents also had to move from place to place. But they lived much longer, and their life was not as hard as mine."

Naboth answered, "This vineyard has always been in my family. I won't let you have it."

We are only foreigners living here on earth for a while, just as our ancestors were. And we will soon be gone, like a shadow that suddenly disappears.

I will pull you out of this land I gave you. I will desert this temple where I said I would be worshiped, so that people everywhere will think it is only a joke and will make fun of it.

I live here as a stranger. Don't keep me from knowing your commands.

This fiftieth year is sacred--it is a time of freedom and of celebration when everyone will receive back their original property, and slaves will return home to their families.

When property is being sold, the original owner must be given the first chance to buy it.

Tell the heavens to celebrate and all gods to bow down to the LORD, because he will take revenge on those hateful enemies who killed his people. He will forgive the sins of Israel and purify their land.

Dear friends, you are foreigners and strangers on this earth. So I beg you not to surrender to those desires that fight against you.
