Don't work for food that spoils. Work for food that gives eternal life. The Son of Man will give you this food, because God the Father has given him the right to do so."

I will tell the promise that the LORD made to me: "You are my son, because today I have become your father.

And so, I said, "I am here to do what is written about me in the book, where it says,

All of you are welcome to my meat and wine.

We struggle just to have enough to eat, but we are never satisfied.

Here is my servant! I have made him strong. He is my chosen one; I am pleased with him. I have given him my Spirit, and he will bring justice to the nations.

Why waste your money on what really isn't food? Why work hard for something that doesn't satisfy? Listen carefully to me, and you will enjoy the very best foods.

When you spoke to me, I was glad to obey, because I belong to you, the LORD All-Powerful.

But the LORD All-Powerful sends up in flames what nations and people work so hard to gain.

While Peter was still speaking, the shadow of a bright cloud passed over them. From the cloud a voice said, "This is my own dear Son, and I am pleased with him. Listen to what he says!"

Then Jesus said, "Those people will be punished forever. But the ones who pleased God will have eternal life."

Then a voice from heaven said, "This is my own dear Son, and I am pleased with him."

Don't store up treasures on earth! Moths and rust can destroy them, and thieves can break in and steal them.

Jesus replied, "Foxes have dens, and birds have nests. But the Son of Man doesn't have a place to call his own."

A voice from heaven said, "You are my own dear Son, and I am pleased with you."

The shadow of a cloud passed over and covered them. From the cloud a voice said, "This is my Son, and I love him. Listen to what he says!"

and the Holy Spirit came down upon him in the form of a dove. A voice from heaven said, "You are my own dear Son, and I am pleased with you."

From the cloud a voice spoke, "This is my chosen Son. Listen to what he says!"

and I give them eternal life, so that they will never be lost. No one can snatch them out of my hand.

I know that you always answer my prayers. But I said this, so that the people here would believe that you sent me."

"I am the way, the truth, and the life!" Jesus answered. "Without me, no one can go to the Father.

I have done things that no one else has ever done. If they had not seen me do these things, they would not be guilty. But they did see me do these things, and they still hate me and my Father too.

And you gave him power over all people, so that he would give eternal life to everyone you give him.

Then everyone who has faith in the Son of Man will have eternal life.

But everyone who does believe him has shown that God is truthful.

My Father wants everyone who sees the Son to have faith in him and to have eternal life. Then I will raise them to life on the last day.

I tell you for certain that everyone who has faith in me has eternal life.

I am that bread from heaven! Everyone who eats it will live forever. My flesh is the life-giving bread that I give to the people of this world.

Jesus answered: I tell you for certain that you won't live unless you eat the flesh and drink the blood of the Son of Man.

But if you do eat my flesh and drink my blood, you will have eternal life, and I will raise you to life on the last day.

The bread that comes down from heaven isn't like what your ancestors ate. They died, but whoever eats this bread will live forever.

What if you should see the Son of Man go up to heaven where he came from?

Simon Peter answered, "Lord, there is no one else that we can go to! Your words give eternal life.

I am one of my witnesses, and the Father who sent me is the other one.

God gave the Holy Spirit and power to Jesus from Nazareth. He was with Jesus, as he went around doing good and healing everyone who was under the power of the devil.

Now, listen to what I have to say about Jesus from Nazareth. God proved that he sent Jesus to you by having him work miracles, wonders, and signs. All of you know this.

Abraham let himself be circumcised to show that he had been accepted because of his faith even before he was circumcised. This makes Abraham the father of all who are acceptable to God because of their faith, even though they are not circumcised.

Sin pays off with death. But God's gift is eternal life given by Jesus Christ our Lord.

You also say, "Food is meant for our bodies, and our bodies are meant for food." But I tell you that God will destroy them both. We are not supposed to do indecent things with our bodies. We are to use them for the Lord who is in charge of our bodies.

Others may think that I am not an apostle, but you are proof that I am an apostle to you.

Things that are seen don't last forever, but things that are not seen are eternal. That's why we keep our minds on the things that cannot be seen.

If you are a follower of Christ Jesus, it makes no difference whether you are circumcised or not. All that matters is your faith that makes you love others.

And you can't say, "How can we obey the LORD's commands? They are across the sea, and someone must go across, then bring them back and explain them to us."

God is working in you to make you willing and able to obey him.

That's why I work so hard and use the mighty power he gives me.

After these things are used, they are no longer good for anything. So why be bothered with the rules that humans have made up?

Think about what is up there, not about what is here on earth.

we tell God our Father about your faith and loving work and about your firm hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.

But the foundation that God has laid is solid. On it is written, "The Lord knows who his people are. So everyone who worships the Lord must turn away from evil."

Watch out for immoral and ungodly people like Esau, who sold his future blessing for only one meal.

We should do our best to enter that place of rest, so that none of us will disobey and miss going there, as they did.

scorched by the burning heat of the sun. The flowers lose their blossoms, and their beauty is destroyed. That is how the rich will disappear, as they go about their business.

The Scriptures say, "Humans wither like grass, and their glory fades like wild flowers. Grass dries up, and flowers fall to the ground.

God, our great and wonderful Father, truly honored him by saying, "This is my own dear Son, and I am pleased with him."
