Abraham answered, "I am nothing more than the dust of the earth. Please forgive me, LORD, for daring to speak to you like this.

The LORD God took a handful of soil and made a man. God breathed life into the man, and the man started breathing.

You will have to sweat to earn a living; you were made out of soil, and you will once again turn into soil."

Remember that you molded me like a piece of clay. So don't turn me back into dust once again.

Your wisdom and arguments are as delicate as dust.

I am rotting away like cloth eaten by worms.

We are flowers that fade and shadows that vanish.

So how can we humans, when we are merely worms?

We each were made from clay, and God has no favorites,

Once they die and are buried, that will be the end of all their plans.

You punish us severely because of our sins. Like a moth, you destroy what we treasure most. We are as frail as a breath.

So our bodies return to the earth, and the life-giving breath returns to God.

We are like clay jars in which this treasure is stored. The real power comes from God and not from us.

Our bodies are like tents that we live in here on earth. But when these tents are destroyed, we know that God will give each of us a place to live. These homes will not be buildings that someone has made, but they are in heaven and will last forever.

The Scriptures say, "Humans wither like grass, and their glory fades like wild flowers. Grass dries up, and flowers fall to the ground.
