These people sing and celebrate to the sound of tambourines, small harps, and flutes,

Some of us die prosperous,

who were swept away without warning.

Just as the heat of summer swallows the snow, the world of the dead swallows those who sin.

Great for a while; gone forever! Sinners are mowed down like weeds, then they wither and die.

Now I would be at peace in the silent world below

And if they obey, they will be successful and happy from then on.

They never have to suffer, they stay healthy,

Work hard at whatever you do. You will soon go to the world of the dead, where no one works or thinks or reasons or knows anything.
