Even in times of success, they constantly hear the threat of doom.

Their property and wealth will shrink and disappear.

You are in for trouble! You take over house after house and field after field, until there is no room left for anyone else in all the land.

But the LORD All-Powerful has made this promise to me: Those large and beautiful homes will be left empty, with no one to take care of them.

You cheated others, but everything you gained will fly away, like birds hatched from stolen eggs. Then you will discover what fools you are.

The LORD has said that they don't even know how to do right. They have become rich from violence and robbery.

And so the LORD God has sworn that they will be surrounded. Enemies will break through their defenses and steal their treasures.
