Why have you turned your back and count me your enemy?

You have tied my feet down and keep me surrounded;

You cut yourself in anger. Will that shake the earth or even move the rocks?

and attacks with fierce anger, as though I were his enemy.

You claim that God has made you his enemy,

The fearsome arrows of God All-Powerful have filled my soul with their poison.

Worthless people make fun and never stop laughing.

Merciless people make plots against good people and snarl like animals,

You have ignored me! So pay close attention or I will tear you apart, and no one can help you.

God was like a bear or a lion waiting in ambush for me;

So I'll become a fierce lion attacking Israel and Judah. I'll snatch and carry off what I want, and no one can stop me.

Let's return to the LORD. He has torn us to shreds, but he will bandage our wounds and make us well.

My enemies, don't be glad because of my troubles! I may have fallen, but I will get up; I may be sitting in the dark, but the LORD is my light.
