Will we humans live again? I would gladly suffer and wait for my time.

Why don't you leave us alone and let us find some happiness while we toil and labor?

Its roots and stump may rot,

God rips me apart, uproots my hopes,

Like a branch that sprouts from a stump, someone from David's family will someday be king.

Someday Israel will take root like a vine. It will blossom and bear fruit that covers the earth.

If only a tenth of the people are left, even they will be destroyed. But just as stumps remain after trees have been cut down, some of my chosen ones will be left.

It was covered with leaves and heavy with fruit-- enough for all nations. Wild animals enjoyed its shade, birds nested in its branches, and all creatures on earth lived on its fruit.

But leave its stump and roots in the ground, surrounded by grass and held by chains of iron and bronze. 'Make sure that this ruler lives like the animals out in the open fields, unprotected from the dew.
