You know I am innocent, but who can defend me against you?

and the very thought of myself fills me with disgust.

Merely the thought of God All-Powerful

I pray that my enemies will suffer no less than the wicked.

Stop accusing me falsely; my reputation is at stake.

And if he grabs something, who can stop him or raise a question?

Even though I am innocent, I can only beg for mercy.

So what's the use of trying to prove my innocence?

I have not forgotten your Law! Look at the trouble I am in, and rescue me.

See my troubles and misery and forgive my sins.

But others mock and sneer, as they watch my enemies take revenge on me.

Make them blush with shame, until they turn and worship you, our LORD.

The wicked will go down to the world of the dead to be with those nations that forgot about you.

The LORD said: I have seen how my people are suffering as slaves in Egypt, and I have heard them beg for my help because of the way they are being mistreated. I feel sorry for them,

Tell those who disobey, "You're in big trouble-- what you did to others will come back to you."

Then I cried out, "I'm doomed! Everything I say is sinful, and so are the words of everyone around me. Yet I have seen the King, the LORD All-Powerful."

Won't you look and see how upset I am, our LORD? My stomach is in knots, and my heart is broken because I betrayed you. In the streets and at home, my people are slaughtered.

Then everyone will once again see the difference between those who obey me by doing right and those who reject me by doing wrong.

And that's how it should be with you. When you've done all you should, then say, "We are merely servants, and we have simply done our duty."
