The Babylonian army is already attacking, and they will capture the city and set it on fire. The people of Jerusalem have made me angry by going up to the flat roofs of their houses and burning incense to Baal and offering wine sacrifices to other gods. Now these houses will be burned to the ground!

Nebuzaradan burned down the LORD's temple, the king's palace, and every important building in the city, as well as all the houses.

Nebuchadnezzar's troops burned down the temple and destroyed every important building in the city. Then they broke down the city wall.

So the people gathered branches and made shelters on the flat roofs of their houses, in their yards, in the courtyard of the temple, and in the open areas around the Water Gate and Ephraim Gate.

This is a message about Vision Valley: Why are you celebrating on the flat roofs of your houses?

I am the LORD All-Powerful. You people of Judah were like a tree that I had planted, but you have made me angry by offering sacrifices to Baal, just as the northern kingdom did. And now I'm going to pull you up by the roots. *

But if you keep on carrying things through the city gates on the Sabbath and keep treating it as any other day, I will set fire to these gates and burn down the whole city, including the fortresses.

I have decided not to rescue Jerusalem. Instead, I am going to let the king of Babylonia burn it to the ground. I, the LORD, have spoken. *

Your friends have forgotten you; they don't care anymore. Even I have acted like an enemy. And because your sins are horrible and countless, I will be cruel as I punish you.

Zedekiah had ordered me to be held there because I told everyone that the LORD had said: I am the LORD, and I am about to let the king of Babylonia conquer Jerusalem.

to say to King Zedekiah: I am the LORD, and I am going to let Nebuchadnezzar capture this city and burn it down.

Meanwhile, the Babylonian army had burned the houses in Jerusalem, including the royal palace, and they had broken down the city walls.

Jerusalem was captured during Nebuchadnezzar's nineteenth year as king of Babylonia. About a month later, Nebuchadnezzar's officer in charge of the guards arrived in Jerusalem. His name was Nebuzaradan,

and he burned down the LORD's temple, the king's palace, and every important building in the city, as well as all the houses.

Do you see what the people of Judah are doing in their towns and in the streets of Jerusalem?

Children gather firewood, their fathers build fires, and their mothers mix dough to bake bread for the goddess they call the Queen of Heaven. They even offer wine sacrifices to other gods, just to insult me.

The LORD was so fiercely angry that he burned the city of Zion to the ground.

They will stone you to death and cut you to pieces; they will kill your children and burn down your houses.

This made the king so furious that he sent an army to kill those murderers and burn down their city.

Who were those people that heard God's voice and rebelled? Weren't they the same ones that came out of Egypt with Moses?
