Israel, you belong to me, so don't be afraid. You deserved to be punished; that's why I scattered you in distant nations. But I am with you, and someday I will destroy those nations.

Later the LORD spoke to Abram in a vision, "Abram, don't be afraid! I will protect you and reward you greatly."

The LORD will set you free from your sorrow, suffering, and slavery.

No lions or other wild animals will come near that road; only those the LORD has saved will travel there.

Don't be afraid! I am with you. From both east and west I will bring you together.

People of Israel, I have chosen you as my servant.

I am your Creator. You were in my care even before you were born. Israel, don't be terrified! You are my chosen servant, my very favorite.

and brought someone from a distant land to do what I wanted. He attacked from the east, like a hawk swooping down. Now I will keep my promise and do what I planned.

I will soon come to save you. I am not far away and will waste no time; I take pride in Israel and will save Jerusalem.

Then my people will return from distant lands in the north and the west and from the city of Syene.

But the LORD has promised to fight on our side and to rescue our children from those strong and violent enemies.

Don't be afraid or ashamed and don't be discouraged. You won't be disappointed. Forget how sinful you were when you were young; stop feeling ashamed for being left a widow.

I will bring the rest of my people home from the lands where I have scattered them, and they will grow into a mighty nation.

I promise to choose leaders who will care for them like real shepherds. All of my people will be there, and they will never again be frightened.

As long as he is king, Israel will have peace, and Judah will be safe. The name of this king will be "The LORD Gives Justice."

Instead, you will call me the Living God who rescued you from the land in the north and from all the other countries where I had forced you to go. And you will once again live in your own land.

I will bless you with a future filled with hope--a future of success, not of suffering.

and accept your worship. Then I will gather you from all the nations where I scattered you, and you will return to Jerusalem.

Then, in countries to the north, you people of Judah and Israel will be reunited, and you will return to the land I gave your ancestors.

Someday I will let my people from both Israel and Judah return to the land I gave their ancestors."

My people, soon you will suffer worse than ever before, but I will save you.

In those days, Judah will be safe; Jerusalem will have peace and will be named, "The LORD Gives Justice."

So their punishment will seem light compared to yours. You will be disgraced and put to shame because of your disgusting sins.

to take advantage of Israel, that weak and peaceful country where people live safely inside towns that have no walls or gates or locks.

Michael, the chief of the angels, is the protector of your people, and he will come at a time of terrible suffering, the worst in all of history. And your people who have their names written in The Book will be protected.

And I will agree to let you live in peace--you will no longer be attacked by wild animals and birds or by weapons of war.

People of Judah, your time is coming too. I, the LORD, would like to make my nation prosper again

and does great things. So tell the soil to celebrate

Jerusalem, why are you crying? Don't you have a king? Have your advisors gone? Are you suffering like a woman in childbirth?

Then each of you will live at peace and entertain your friends in your own vineyard and under your own fig trees.

"People of Jerusalem, don't be afraid! Your King is now coming, and he is riding on a donkey."
