I will bless you with a future filled with hope--a future of success, not of suffering.

Israel, you belong to me, so don't be afraid. You deserved to be punished; that's why I scattered you in distant nations. But I am with you, and someday I will destroy those nations.

The LORD All-Powerful, the God of Israel, said: I promise to set the people of Judah free and to lead them back to their hometowns. And when I do, they will once again say, "We pray that the LORD will bless his home, the sacred hill in Jerusalem where his temple stands."

I am angry at the people of Jerusalem, and I will scatter them in foreign countries. But someday I will bring them back here and let them live in safety.

I promise that the time will come when I will appoint a king from the family of David, a king who will be honest and rule with justice.

In those days, Judah will be safe; Jerusalem will have peace and will be named, "The LORD Gives Justice."

I will leave Jerusalem in ruins when my chosen one comes to punish this city.

They will be safe and will build houses and plant vineyards. They will no longer be in danger, because I will punish their hateful neighbors. Israel will know that I am the LORD their God.

I, the LORD God, know that when you see my people Israel living in peace,

and so the total length of the wall will be six miles. The new name of the city will be "The-LORD-Is-Here!"

God has decided that for seventy weeks, your people and your holy city must suffer as the price of their sins. Then evil will disappear, and justice will rule forever; the visions and words of the prophets will come true, and a most holy place will be dedicated.

Everything you do is right, our Lord. But still we suffer public disgrace because we have been unfaithful and have sinned against you. This includes all of us, both far and near--the people of Judah, Jerusalem, and Israel, as well as those you dragged away to foreign lands,

Israel and Judah will unite and choose one leader. Then they will take back their land, and this will be a great day for Jezreel.

But I am the LORD God of Judah, and I will have mercy and save Judah by my own power--not by wars and arrows or swords and cavalry."

And I will agree to let you live in peace--you will no longer be attacked by wild animals and birds or by weapons of war.

The LORD's people who escape will go to Mount Zion, and it will be holy. Then Jacob's descendants will capture the land of those who took their land.

Those the LORD has saved will live on Mount Zion and rule over Edom. Then the kingdom will belong to the LORD.

The people of Israel who survive will live right and refuse to tell lies. They will eat and rest with nothing to fear.

I will strengthen the kingdoms of Judah and Israel. And I will show mercy because I am the LORD, their God. I will answer their prayers and bring them home. Then it will seem as though I had never rejected them.

Then each of you will live at peace and entertain your friends in your own vineyard and under your own fig trees.

God treats everyone alike. He accepts people only because they have faith in Jesus Christ.

You are God's children. He sent Christ Jesus to save us and to make us wise, acceptable, and holy.

Christ never sinned! But God treated him as a sinner, so that Christ could make us acceptable to God.

and to know that I belong to him. I could not make myself acceptable to God by obeying the Law of Moses. God accepted me simply because of my faith in Christ.
