It troubled the LORD to see them in trouble, and his angel saved them. The LORD was truly merciful, so he rescued his people. He took them in his arms and carried them all those years.

Jerusalem, rise from the ruins! Join in the singing. The LORD has given comfort to his people; he comes to your rescue.

The king will answer, "Whenever you did it for any of my people, no matter how unimportant they seemed, you did it for me."

The king will say to them, "Whenever you failed to help any of my people, no matter how unimportant they seemed, you failed to do it for me."

And when you find it, you will be so glad that you will put it on your shoulder

Peter now realized what had happened, and he said, "I am certain that the Lord sent his angel to rescue me from Herod and from everything the Jewish leaders planned to do to me."

Moses brought our people together in the desert, and the angel spoke to him on Mount Sinai. There he was given these life-giving words to pass on to us.

He fell to the ground and heard a voice that said, "Saul! Saul! Why are you so cruel to me?"

And don't try to test Christ, as some of them did and were later bitten by poisonous snakes.

And you know that the LORD has taken care of us the whole time we've been in the desert, just as you might carry one of your children."

The LORD loved your ancestors and decided that you would be his people. So the LORD used his great power to bring you out of Egypt.

He gave himself to rescue us from everything that is evil and to make our hearts pure. He wanted us to be his own people and to be eager to do right.

And now that Jesus has suffered and was tempted, he can help anyone else who is tempted.

Jesus understands every weakness of ours, because he was tempted in every way that we are. But he did not sin!

May kindness and peace be yours from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness. Jesus was the first to conquer death, and he is the ruler of all earthly kings. Christ loves us, and by his blood he set us free from our sins.

Then they sang a new song, "You are worthy to receive the scroll and open its seals, because you were killed. And with your own blood you bought for God people from every tribe, language, nation, and race.

Then the Israelites got rid of the idols of the foreign gods, and they began worshiping only the LORD. Finally, there came a time when the LORD could no longer stand to see them suffer.
