You knew that the King of Egypt and his officials and his nation had mistreated your people. So you worked fearsome miracles against the Egyptians and earned a reputation that still remains.

You divided the deep sea, and your people walked through on dry land. But you tossed their enemies in, and they sank down like a heavy stone.

God made a path in the sea and piled up the water as he led them across.

(A psalm by Asaph for the music leader. To the tune "Lilies of the Agreement.") Shepherd of Israel, you lead the descendants of Joseph, and you sit on your throne above the winged creatures. Listen to our prayer and let your light shine

The people you rescued were led by your powerful love to your holy place.

struck down by fear. Our LORD, your powerful arm kept them still as a rock until the people you rescued for your very own had marched by.

With the tremendous force of your right arm, our LORD, you crushed your enemies.

Here is my message for Israel: "I am the LORD! And with my mighty power I will punish the Egyptians and free you from slavery.

The Lord will dry up the arm of the Red Sea near Egypt, and he will send a scorching wind to divide the Euphrates River into seven streams that anyone can step across.

I am the one who cut a path through the mighty ocean.

I am the one who commands the sea and its streams to run dry.

Didn't you dry up the deep sea and make a road for your people to follow safely across?

Cypress and myrtle trees will grow in fields once covered by thorns. And then those trees will stand as a lasting witness to the glory of the LORD.

It will be different from the agreement I made with their ancestors when I led them out of Egypt. Although I was their God, they broke that agreement.

You are famous because you worked miracles in Egypt, and you are still working them in Israel and in the rest of the world as well.

You terrified the Egyptians with your miracles, and you reached out your mighty arm and rescued your people Israel from Egypt.

In the Scriptures the Lord says to Pharaoh of Egypt, "I let you become king, so that I could show you my power and be praised by all people on earth."

the river stopped flowing, and the water started piling up at the town of Adam near Zarethan. No water flowed toward the Dead Sea, and the priests stood in the middle of the dry riverbed near Jericho while everyone else crossed over.
