Isaiah 44:26

I will make the message of my prophets come true. They are saying, "Jerusalem will be filled with people, and the LORD will rebuild the towns of Judah."

At once the people went to the Syrian camp and carried off what was left. They took so much that a large sack of flour and two large sacks of barley sold for almost nothing, just as the LORD had promised.

Earlier, when the king was at Elisha's house, Elisha had told him that flour or barley would sell for almost nothing.

And that's exactly what happened--the officer was trampled to death.

Everyone returned to the towns from which their families had come, including the priests, the Levites, the musicians, the temple guards, and the workers.

They told me, "Those captives who have come back are having all kinds of troubles. They are terribly disgraced, Jerusalem's walls are broken down, and its gates have been burned."

I answered, "Your Majesty, I hope you live forever! I feel sad because the city where my ancestors are buried is in ruins, and its gates have been burned down."

and the prayers of the homeless will be answered.

The LORD rebuilds Jerusalem and brings the people of Israel back home again.

God will rescue Jerusalem, and he will rebuild the towns of Judah. His people will live there on their own land,

and when the time comes, their children will inherit the land. Then everyone who loves God will also settle there.

for killing and healing, destroying and building,

There is good news for the city of Zion. Shout it as loud as you can from the highest mountain. Don't be afraid to shout to the towns of Judah, "Your God is here!"

No one is as blind or deaf as his messenger, his chosen servant,

Everything has happened just as I said it would; now I will announce what will happen next.

This is what the LORD says: I will answer your prayers because I have set a time when I will help by coming to save you. I have chosen you to take my promise of hope to other nations. You will rebuild the country from its ruins, then people will come and settle there.

Jerusalem, rise from the ruins! Join in the singing. The LORD has given comfort to his people; he comes to your rescue.

You and your descendants will take over the land of other nations. You will settle in towns that are now in ruins.

That's how it is with my words. They don't return to me without doing everything I send them to do."

You will rebuild those houses left in ruins for years; you will be known as a builder and repairer of city walls and streets.

Jerusalem, your city walls will be rebuilt by foreigners; their rulers will become your slaves. I punished you in my anger; now I will be kind and treat you with mercy.

Then they will rebuild cities that have been in ruins for many generations.

and I am sending you with authority to speak to the nations for me. You will tell them of doom and destruction, and of rising and rebuilding again."

Now you are saying we will have peace. We will just have to wait and see if that is really what the LORD has said.

The LORD said: Israel, I will be kind to you and let you come home. Jerusalem now lies in ruins, but you will rebuild it, complete with a new palace.

You are precious to me, and so I will rebuild your nation. Once again you will dance for joy and play your tambourines.

I am the LORD All-Powerful, the God of Israel, and I promise you that people will once again buy and sell houses, farms, and vineyards in this country.

But someday, people will again spend their silver to buy fields everywhere--in the territory of Benjamin, the region around Jerusalem and the towns of Judah, and in the hill country, the foothills to the west, and the Southern Desert. Buyers and sellers and witnesses will sign and seal the bills of sale for the fields. It will happen, because I will give this land back to my people. I, the LORD, have spoken.

I will give this land to Israel and Judah once again, and I will make them as strong as they were before.

The people of Israel will return and rebuild your ruined towns and live in them.

The LORD said to Gog: Long ago, I had my prophets warn the people of Israel that someday I would send an enemy to attack them. You, Gog, are that enemy, and that day is coming.

You warned us and our leaders that Jerusalem would suffer the worst disaster in human history, and you did exactly as you had threatened.

You need to realize that from the command to rebuild Jerusalem until the coming of the Chosen Leader, it will be seven weeks and another sixty-two weeks. Streets will be built in Jerusalem, and a trench will be dug around the city for protection, but these will be difficult times.

I'll make Israel prosper again. You will rebuild your towns and live in them. You will drink wine from your own vineyards and eat the fruit you grow.

Haggai then told them that the LORD had promised to be with them.

I also promise that my towns will prosper--Jerusalem will once again be my chosen city, and I will comfort the people of Zion.

But my warnings and my words spoken by the prophets caught up with your ancestors. So they turned back to me and said, "LORD All-Powerful, you have punished us for our sins, just as you had planned."

At that time I will let the clans of Judah be like a ball of fire in a wood pile or a fiery torch in a hay stack. Then Judah will send the surrounding nations up in smoke. And once again the city of Jerusalem will be filled with people.

and said, "Hurry! Tell that man with the measuring line that Jerusalem won't have any boundaries. It will be too full of people and animals even to have a wall.

But all this happened, so that what the prophets wrote would come true." All of Jesus' disciples left him and ran away.

Heaven and earth may disappear. But I promise you that not even a period or comma will ever disappear from the Law. Everything written in it must happen.

Jesus said to them, "While I was still with you, I told you that everything written about me in the Law of Moses, the Books of the Prophets, and in the Psalms had to happen."
