People of Israel, I have chosen you as my servant.

I will always keep the promise I have made to you and your descendants, because I am your God and their God.

You belong to the family of Abraham, his servant; you are his chosen ones, the descendants of Jacob.

He gave their land to Israel, the people who serve him. God's love never fails.

The LORD will have mercy on Israel and will let them be his chosen people once again. He will bring them back to their own land, and foreigners will join them as part of Israel.

Israel, you are my servant. I chose you, the family of my friend Abraham.

An army will come out, like a lion from its den. It will destroy nations and leave your towns empty and in ruins."

Jerusalem, Jerusalem! Your people have killed the prophets and have stoned the messengers who were sent to you. I have often wanted to gather your people, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings. But you wouldn't let me.
