And worst of all, the people of Judah pretended to come back to me.

You asked me to pray and find out what the LORD our God wants you to do, and you promised to obey him. But that was a terrible mistake,

One day, some of Israel's leaders came to me and asked for a message from the LORD.

Ezekiel, son of man, the people with you in Babylonia talk about you when they meet by the city walls or in the doorways of their houses. They say, "Let's ask Ezekiel what the LORD has said today."

They don't really pray to me; they just howl in their beds. They have rejected me for Baal and slashed themselves, in the hope that Baal will bless their crops.

After these things are used, they are no longer good for anything. So why be bothered with the rules that humans have made up?

Saul said, "I did sin, but please honor me in front of the leaders of the army and the people of Israel. Come back with me, so I can worship the LORD your God."
