When the LORD comes, everyone who is proud will be made humble, and the LORD alone will be honored.

You rescue the humble, but you put down all who are proud.

You, the LORD God, keep my lamp burning and turn darkness to light.

Others will stumble and fall, but we will be strong and stand firm.

Our God says, "Calm down, and learn that I am God! All nations on earth will honor me."

The LORD All-Powerful is with us. The God of Jacob is our fortress.

You judge the earth. Come and help us! Pay back those proud people for what they have done.

The LORD doesn't like anyone who is conceited-- you can be sure they will be punished.

Some people are stuck-up and act like snobs;

The Lord will do what he has planned against Jerusalem and Mount Zion. Then he will punish the proud and boastful king of Assyria,

At that time you will say, "I thank you, LORD! You were angry with me, but you stopped being angry and gave me comfort.

At that time you will say, "Our LORD, we are thankful, and we worship only you. We will tell the nations how glorious you are and what you have done.

I will punish this evil world and its people because of their sins. I will crush the horrible pride of those who are cruel.

But now you are deep in the world of the dead.

When that day comes, everyone who is proud will be put down. Only the LORD will be honored.

The LORD All-Powerful planned it to bring shame and disgrace to those who are honored by everyone on earth.

On that day the LORD will punish the powers in the heavens and the kings of the earth.

At that time, people will say, "The LORD has saved us! Let's celebrate. We waited and hoped-- now our God is here."

The time is coming when the people of Judah will sing this song: "Our city is protected. The LORD is our fortress, and he gives us victory.

When this time comes, the LORD All-Powerful will be a glorious crown for his people who survive.

The deaf will be able to hear whatever is read to them; the blind will be freed from a life of darkness.

The LORD God is waiting to show how kind he is and to have pity on you. The LORD always does right; he blesses those who trust him.

The Lord will send rain to water the seeds you have planted--your fields will produce more crops than you need, and your cattle will graze in open pastures.

Sennacherib, you cursed, shouted, and sneered at me, the holy God of Israel.

When this happens, seven women will grab the same man, and each of them will say, "I'll buy my own food and clothes! Just marry me and take away my disgrace."

God brings down rulers and turns them into nothing.

My people, you will learn who I am and who is speaking because I am here.

My people are like a hawk surrounded and attacked by other hawks. Tell the wild animals to come and eat their fill.

If you feel you must brag, then have enough sense to brag about worshiping me, the LORD. What I like best is showing kindness, justice, and mercy to everyone on earth.

I, the LORD God, know that when you see my people Israel living in peace,

and in my anger I will send a terrible earthquake to shake Israel.

After Gog has been destroyed, I will bury him and his army in Israel, in Travelers' Valley, east of the Dead Sea. That graveyard will be so large that it will block the way of anyone who tries to walk through the valley, which will then be known as "The Valley of Gog's Army."

The people of Israel will know from then on that I am the LORD their God.

Finally, I prayed to God in heaven, and my mind was healed. Then I said: "I praise and honor God Most High. He lives forever, and his kingdom will never end.

I promise that from that day on, you will call me your husband instead of your master.

And I will agree to let you live in peace--you will no longer be attacked by wild animals and birds or by weapons of war.

I will command the sky to send rain on the earth,

On that day, fruitful vineyards will cover the mountains. And your cattle and goats that graze on the hills will produce a lot of milk. Streams in Judah will never run dry; a stream from my house will flow in Acacia Valley.

In the future, I will rebuild David's fallen kingdom. I will build it from its ruins and set it up again, just as it used to be.

Edom, when this happens, I, the LORD, will destroy all your marvelous wisdom.

But here is what the LORD says: "I am planning trouble for you. Your necks will be caught in a noose, and you will be disgraced in this time of disaster."

The LORD said: At that time I will gather my people-- the lame and the outcasts, and all into whose lives I have brought sorrow.

The LORD said: At that time I will wipe out your cavalry and chariots,

When that time comes, you won't rebel against me and be put to shame. I'll do away with those who are proud and arrogant. Never will any of them strut around on my holy mountain.

Jerusalem, the time is coming, when it will be said to you: "Don't be discouraged or grow weak from fear!

The LORD God will save them on that day, because they are his people, and they will shine on his land like jewels in a crown.

The day of judgment is certain to come. And it will be like a red-hot furnace with flames that burn up proud and sinful people, as though they were straw. Not a branch or a root will be left. I, the LORD All-Powerful, have spoken!

Then Jesus said, "When the two men went home, it was the tax collector and not the Pharisee who was pleasing to God. If you put yourself above others, you will be put down. But if you humble yourself, you will be honored."

The Scriptures say, "If you want to brag, then brag about the Lord."

and every bit of pride that keeps anyone from knowing God. We capture people's thoughts and make them obey Christ.

This will happen on that day when the Lord returns to be praised and honored by all who have faith in him and belong to him. This includes you, because you believed what we said.

All of you young people should obey your elders. In fact, everyone should be humble toward everyone else. The Scriptures say, "God opposes proud people, but he helps everyone who is humble."
