At that time you will say, "I thank you, LORD! You were angry with me, but you stopped being angry and gave me comfort.

Nehemiah told the people, "Enjoy your good food and wine and share some with those who didn't have anything to bring. Don't be sad! This is a special day for the LORD, and he will make you happy and strong."

This may be what saves me, because no guilty person would come to his court.

Your anger lasts a little while, but your kindness lasts for a lifetime. At night we may cry, but when morning comes we will celebrate.

Soon I will stop being angry with you, and I will punish them for their crimes.

How will you escape being captured or killed? The Lord is still angry, and he isn't through with you yet!

Then for his people who survive, there will be a good road from Assyria, just as there was a good road for their ancestors when they left Egypt.

The LORD will set you free from your sorrow, suffering, and slavery.

When the LORD comes, everyone who is proud will be made humble, and the LORD alone will be honored.

You, LORD, are my God! I will praise you for doing the wonderful things you had planned and promised since ancient times.

At that time, people will say, "The LORD has saved us! Let's celebrate. We waited and hoped-- now our God is here."

The time is coming when the people of Judah will sing this song: "Our city is protected. The LORD is our fortress, and he gives us victory.

The people the LORD has rescued will come back singing as they enter Zion. Happiness will be a crown they will always wear. They will celebrate and shout because all sorrows and worries will be gone far away.

Tell the heavens and the earth to celebrate and sing; command every mountain to join in the song. The LORD's people have suffered, but he has shown mercy and given them comfort.

Though Zion is in ruins, the LORD will bring comfort, and the city will be as lovely as the garden of Eden that he provided. Then Zion will celebrate; it will be thankful and sing joyful songs.

I rejected you for a while, but with love and tenderness I will embrace you again.

For a while, I turned away in furious anger. Now I will have mercy and love you forever! I, your protector and LORD, make this promise."

I once promised Noah that I would never again destroy the earth by a flood. Now I have promised that I will never again get angry and punish you.

Jerusalem, your city walls will be rebuilt by foreigners; their rulers will become your slaves. I punished you in my anger; now I will be kind and treat you with mercy.

I celebrate and shout because of my LORD God. His saving power and justice are the very clothes I wear. They are more beautiful than the jewelry worn by a bride or a groom.

You help all who gladly obey and do what you want, but sin makes you angry. Only by your help can we ever be saved.

Celebrate and be glad forever! I am creating a Jerusalem, full of happy people.

I will comfort you there like a mother comforting her child."

Other nations will respect and honor you. Your homes will be filled with children, and you will celebrate, singing praises to me.

Young women and young men, together with the elderly, will celebrate and dance, because I will comfort them and turn their sorrow into happiness.

Israel, I can't let you go. I can't give you up. How could I possibly destroy you as I did the towns of Admah and Zeboiim? I just can't do it. My feelings for you are much too strong.

Let's return to the LORD. He has torn us to shreds, but he will bandage our wounds and make us well.

And so, I will have pity on Jerusalem. The city will be completely rebuilt, and my temple will stand again.

At that time the words "Dedicated to the LORD" will be engraved on the bells worn by horses. In fact, every ordinary cooking pot in Jerusalem will be just as sacred to the LORD All-Powerful as the bowls used at the altar. Any one of them will be acceptable for boiling the meat of sacrificed animals, and there will no longer be a need to sell special pots and bowls.

Then there will be only one LORD who rules as King and whose name is worshiped everywhere on earth.

My people, only a few of you are left, and I promise not to punish you as I did before.

People of Judah, I, the LORD, demand that whenever you go without food as a way of worshiping me, it should become a time of celebration. No matter if it's the fourth month, the fifth month, the seventh month, or the tenth month, you should have a joyful festival. So love truth and live at peace.

When Israel rejected God, the rest of the people in the world were able to turn to him. So when God makes friends with Israel, it will be like bringing the dead back to life.
