The holy God, who is the light of Israel, will turn into a fire, and in one day you will go up in flames, just like a thornbush.

They will be destroyed by fire once you are here, and because of your anger, flames will swallow them.

You are in for trouble if you go to Egypt for help, or if you depend on an army of chariots or a powerful cavalry. Instead you should depend on and trust the holy LORD God of Israel.

Their fortress will fall when terror strikes; their army officers will be frightened and run from the battle. This is what the LORD has said, the LORD whose fiery furnace is built on Mount Zion.

You will be burned to ashes like thorns in a fire.

Those terrible sinners on Mount Zion tremble as they ask in fear, "How can we possibly live where a raging fire never stops burning?"

Sennacherib, you cursed, shouted, and sneered at me, the holy God of Israel.

The LORD sent an angel to the camp of the Assyrians, and he killed one hundred eighty-five thousand of them all in one night. The next morning, the camp was full of dead bodies.

People who trust the stars are as helpless as straw in a flaming fire. No one can even keep warm, sitting by a fire that feeds only on straw.

You won't need the light of the sun or the moon. I, the LORD your God, will be your eternal light and bring you honor.

My people will go out and look at the dead bodies of those who turned against me. The worms there never die, the fire never stops burning, and the sight of those bodies will be disgusting to everyone.

Evil had spread like a raging forest fire sending thornbushes up in smoke.

With all your hearts, keep the agreement I made with you. But if you are stubborn and keep on sinning, my anger will burn like a fire that cannot be put out. *

And now, I, the LORD All-Powerful, will flood Judah with my fiery anger until nothing is left--no people or animals, no trees or crops.

They are like drunkards overcome by wine, or like dry thornbushes burning in a fire.

Not even your silver or gold can save you on that day when I, the LORD, am angry. My anger will flare up like a furious fire scorching the earth and everyone on it."

At that time I will let the clans of Judah be like a ball of fire in a wood pile or a fiery torch in a hay stack. Then Judah will send the surrounding nations up in smoke. And once again the city of Jerusalem will be filled with people.

Suddenly the LORD sent a fire that burned up the two hundred fifty men who had offered incense to him.

His threshing fork is in his hand, and he is ready to separate the wheat from the husks. He will store the wheat in a barn and burn the husks in a fire that never goes out.

The LORD will be angry if you worship other gods, and he can be like a fire destroying everything in its path.

Our God is like a destructive fire!

And the city did not need the sun or the moon. The glory of God was shining on it, and the Lamb was its light.

Never again will night appear, and no one who lives there will ever need a lamp or the sun. The Lord God will be their light, and they will rule forever.
