and I will sing about you at the gate to Zion. I will be happy there because you rescued me.

Your country lies in ruins; your towns are in ashes. Foreigners and strangers take and destroy your land while you watch.

Zion would have disappeared like Sodom and Gomorrah, if the LORD All-Powerful had not let a few of its people survive.

Today the enemy will camp at Nob and shake a threatening fist at Mount Zion in Jerusalem.

Enemy soldiers will cover Judah like a flood reaching up to your neck. But God is with us. He will spread his wings and protect our land.

Jerusalem is a lovely pasture, but shepherds will surround it and divide it up,

The Lord was angry! So he disgraced Zion though it was Israel's pride and his own place of rest. In his anger he threw Zion down from heaven to earth.

He shattered his temple like a hut in a garden; he completely wiped out his meeting place, and did away with festivals and Sabbaths in the city of Zion. In his fierce anger he rejected our king and priests.

City of Zion, sing and celebrate! The LORD has promised to come and live with you.

Everyone in Jerusalem, celebrate and shout! Your king has won a victory, and he is coming to you. He is humble and rides on a donkey; he comes on the colt of a donkey.

"People of Jerusalem, don't be afraid! Your King is now coming, and he is riding on a donkey."
