"You are God's prophet!" the woman replied. "Now I know that you really do speak for the LORD."

Naaman and his officials went back to Elisha. Naaman stood in front of him and announced, "Now I know that the God of Israel is the only God in the whole world. Sir, would you please accept a gift from me?"

The LORD is great and deserves our greatest praise! He is the only God worthy of our worship.

This will be a great temple, because our God is greater than all other gods.

You knew that the King of Egypt and his officials and his nation had mistreated your people. So you worked fearsome miracles against the Egyptians and earned a reputation that still remains.

Our stubborn ancestors refused to obey-- they forgot about the miracles you had worked for them, and they were determined to return to Egypt and become slaves again.

You warned them to turn back and discover true life by obeying your laws. But they stubbornly refused and continued to sin.

You punish those boastful, worthless nobodies who turn from your commands.

The LORD is much greater than any other god.

All who belong to the LORD, show how you love him. The LORD protects the faithful, but he severely punishes everyone who is proud.

The LORD is the greatest God, king over all other gods.

The LORD rules the whole earth, and he is more glorious than all the false gods.

If we don't outsmart them, their families will keep growing larger. And if our country goes to war, they could easily fight on the side of our enemies and escape from Egypt.

He told them, "If a Hebrew woman gives birth to a girl, let the child live. If the baby is a boy, kill him!"

until finally, the king gave a command to everyone in the nation, "As soon as a Hebrew boy is born, throw him into the Nile River! But you can let the girls live."

Moses and Aaron went to the king and told him that the LORD God of the Hebrews had said: How long will you stubbornly refuse to obey? Release my people so they can worship me.

That same night I will pass through Egypt and kill the first-born son in every family and the first-born male of all animals. I am the LORD, and I will punish the gods of Egypt.

The Egyptians will know for sure that I am the LORD."

The LORD made the king so stubborn that he went after them, even though the Israelites proudly went on their way.

Our LORD, no other gods compare with you-- Majestic and holy! Fearsome and glorious! Miracle worker!

"Who is this LORD and why should I obey him?" the king replied. "I refuse to let you and your people go!"

Don't give the slaves any more straw to put in their bricks. Force them to find their own straw wherever they can,

That's why I say: "Praise and honor the King who rules from heaven! Everything he does is honest and fair, and he can shatter the power of those who are proud."

The Lord has used his powerful arm to scatter those who are proud.

In fact, God treats us with even greater kindness, just as the Scriptures say, "God opposes everyone who is proud, but he is kind to everyone who is humble."

All of you young people should obey your elders. In fact, everyone should be humble toward everyone else. The Scriptures say, "God opposes proud people, but he helps everyone who is humble."

I can tell those proud people, "Stop your boasting! Nothing is hidden from the LORD, and he judges what we do."
