While Jacob and his family were traveling through Canaan, God terrified the people in the towns so much that no one dared bother them.

And there is no other nation on earth like Israel, the nation you rescued from slavery in Egypt to be your own. You became famous by using great and wonderful miracles to force other nations and their gods out of your land, so your people could live here.

The Egyptians were afraid and gladly let them go.

Remember the people you rescued long ago, the tribe you chose to be your very own. Think of Mount Zion, your home;

Your kingdom is ruled by justice and fairness with love and faithfulness leading the way.

But there won't be any need for the Israelites to cry. Things will be so quiet that not even a dog will be heard barking. Then you Egyptians will know that the LORD is good to the Israelites, even while he punishes you.

The people you rescued were led by your powerful love to your holy place.

They sank to the bottom just like stones.

With the tremendous force of your right arm, our LORD, you crushed your enemies.

where Moses told him everything the LORD had done to protect Israel against the Egyptians and their king. He also told him how the LORD had helped them in all of their troubles.

I am the LORD your God, the one who brought you out of Egypt where you were slaves.

I am sending an angel to protect you and to lead you into the land I have ready for you.

If you faithfully obey him, I will be a fierce enemy of your enemies.

I will terrify those nations and make your enemies so confused that they will run from you.

I will accept you as my people, and I will be your God. Then you will know that I was the one who rescued you from the Egyptians.

Didn't you dry up the deep sea and make a road for your people to follow safely across?

The glorious power of the LORD marched beside Moses. The LORD will be praised forever for dividing the sea.

I know that the LORD has given Israel this land. Everyone shakes with fear because of you.

But you are God's chosen and special people. You are a group of royal priests and a holy nation. God has brought you out of darkness into his marvelous light. Now you must tell all the wonderful things that he has done. The Scriptures say,

Sometimes false prophets spoke to the people of Israel. False teachers will also sneak in and speak harmful lies to you. But these teachers don't really belong to the Master who paid a great price for them, and they will quickly destroy themselves.

You protect your loyal people, but everyone who is evil will die in darkness. We cannot win a victory by our own strength.
