On that day, when the Israelites saw the bodies of the Egyptians washed up on the shore, they knew that the LORD had saved them.

The LORD rescued Hezekiah and the people of Jerusalem from Sennacherib and also protected them from other enemies.

But you were true to your name, and you rescued them to prove how mighty you are.

Good people will be glad when they see the wicked getting what they deserve, and they will wash their feet in their enemies' blood.

You love me and will let me see my enemies defeated.

And with your own eyes you will see the punishment of the wicked.

But Moses answered, "Don't be afraid! Be brave, and you will see the LORD save you today. These Egyptians will never bother you again.

But his people remembered what had happened during the time of Moses. Didn't the LORD bring them and their leaders safely through the sea? Didn't he give them his Holy Spirit?

The LORD rescued his people, and said, "They are mine. They won't betray me."

It troubled the LORD to see them in trouble, and his angel saved them. The LORD was truly merciful, so he rescued his people. He took them in his arms and carried them all those years.

But I am the LORD God of Judah, and I will have mercy and save Judah by my own power--not by wars and arrows or swords and cavalry."

Don't forget what happened to those people that the Lord rescued from Egypt. Some of them did not have faith, and he later destroyed them.

The LORD answered: In the past when you came crying to me for help, I rescued you. At one time or another I've rescued you from the Egyptians, the Amorites, the Ammonites, the Philistines, the Sidonians, the Amalekites, and the Maonites.

"No you won't!" Saul told them. "The LORD rescued Israel today, and no one will be put to death."

So the LORD helped Israel win the battle that day. Saul had earlier told his soldiers, "I want to get even with those Philistines by sunset. If any of you eat before then, you will be under a curse!" So he made them swear not to eat. By the time the fighting moved past Beth-Aven, the Israelite troops were weak from hunger.
