Work hard at whatever you do. You will soon go to the world of the dead, where no one works or thinks or reasons or knows anything.

All of Jacob's children came to comfort him, but he refused to be comforted. "No," he said, "I will go to my grave, mourning for my son." So Jacob kept on grieving.

Obey the LORD your God with your heart and soul. Begin work on the temple to honor him, so that the sacred chest and the things used for worship can be kept there.

But you must see that everything is done according to these plans. Be confident, and never be afraid of anything or get discouraged. The LORD my God will help you do everything needed to finish the temple, so it can be used for worshiping him.

I got up during the night and left my house. I took some men with me, without telling anyone what I thought God wanted me to do for the city. The only animal I took was the donkey I rode on.

In front of his friends and the Samaritan army he said, "What is this feeble bunch of Jews trying to do? Are they going to rebuild the wall and offer sacrifices all in one day? Do they think they can make something out of this pile of scorched stones?"

But more than anything else, put God's work first and do what he wants. Then the other things will be yours as well.

Jesus said: My food is to do what God wants! He is the one who sent me, and I must finish the work that he gave me to do.

As long as it is day, we must do what the one who sent me wants me to do. When night comes, no one can work.

Never give up. Eagerly follow the Holy Spirit and serve the Lord.

But God was kind! He made me what I am, and his wonderful kindness wasn't wasted. I worked much harder than any of the other apostles, although it was really God's kindness at work and not me.

When Timothy arrives, give him a friendly welcome. He is doing the Lord's work, just as I am.

You know that many runners enter a race, and only one of them wins the prize. So run to win!

I don't run without a goal. And I don't box by beating my fists in the air.

These are evil times, so make every minute count.

Do your work willingly, as though you were serving the Lord himself, and not just your earthly master.

After these things happen, do whatever you think is right! God will help you.
