Then at Kadesh-Barnea the LORD said, "I am giving you the land, so go ahead and take it!" But since you didn't trust the LORD, you rebelled and disobeyed his command.
They had refused to trust him, and they had doubted his saving power.
Then the LORD's people turned against him and made his Holy Spirit sad. So he became their enemy and attacked them.
The LORD said to Moses,
After the Israelites heard the report from the twelve men who had explored Canaan, the people cried all night
and complained to Moses and Aaron, "We wish we had died in Egypt or somewhere out here in the desert!
So don't rebel. We have no reason to be afraid of the people who live there. The LORD is on our side, and they won't stand a chance against us!

and said, "You are unfaithful and can't be trusted. So I won't answer your prayers; I'll just watch and see what happens to you.
We have heard the message, just as they did. But they failed to believe what they heard, and the message did not do them any good.
