So the Israelites wiped out Og, his family, and his entire army--there were no survivors. Then Israel took over the land of Bashan.

The land on this side of the Jordan River will be ours, so we won't expect to receive any on the other side.

This book contains the speeches that Moses made while Israel was in the land of Moab, camped near the town of Suph in the desert east of the Jordan River. The LORD had given Moses his laws for the people of Israel. And on the first day of the eleventh month, Moses began explaining those laws by saying:

After this we stayed in the valley at Beth-Peor.

Sihon and Og had ruled Amorite kingdoms east of the Jordan River. Their land stretched from the Arnon River gorge in the south to Mount Hermon in the north, and we captured it all.

The LORD buried him in a valley near the town of Beth-Peor, but even today no one knows exactly where.

Before Moses died, he and the people of Israel had defeated two kings east of the Jordan River. These kings had ruled the region from the Arnon River gorge in the south to Mount Hermon in the north, including the eastern side of the Jordan River valley.

Your enemies ran from you, but not because you had swords and bows and arrows. I made your enemies panic and run away, as I had done with the two Amorite kings east of the Jordan River.
