The LORD will force the rest of the people in Jerusalem to live in foreign nations, where they will realize that he has done all these things.

So I solemnly swore that I would scatter the people of Israel across the nations,

I will scatter you throughout every nation on earth and put a stop to your sinful ways.

The graves of soldiers from Meshech and Tubal are there. These godless soldiers who terrified people were all killed in battle.

Everything you do is right, our Lord. But still we suffer public disgrace because we have been unfaithful and have sinned against you. This includes all of us, both far and near--the people of Judah, Jerusalem, and Israel, as well as those you dragged away to foreign lands,

Israel, you disobeyed my God. Now he will force you to roam from nation to nation.

After I destroy your towns and ruin your land with war, I'll scatter you among the nations.

That's why I came with a whirlwind and scattered them among foreign nations, leaving their lovely country empty of people and in ruins.

The LORD will let you and your king be taken captive to a country that you and your ancestors have never even heard of, and there you will have to worship idols made of wood and stone.

Then he will stop punishing you and treat you with kindness. He may have scattered you to the farthest countries on earth, but he will bring you back

"I wanted to scatter you, so no one would remember that you had ever lived.
