Remember, they are the people you chose and rescued from Egypt that was like a blazing fire to them.

They claimed to be servants of the God who rules heaven and earth. And they said they were rebuilding the temple that was built many years ago by one of Israel's greatest kings.

You sent war chariots to crush our skulls. We traveled through fire and through floods, but you brought us to a land of plenty.

And so the LORD says, "I'm laying a firm foundation for the city of Zion. It's a valuable cornerstone proven to be trustworthy; no one who trusts it will ever be disappointed.

You won't need to run. No one is chasing you. The LORD God of Israel will lead and protect you from enemy attacks.

My commands haven't changed since I brought your ancestors out of Egypt, a nation that seemed like a blazing furnace where iron ore is melted. I told your ancestors that if they obeyed my commands, I would be their God, and they would be my people.

The king said, "Now I know that your God is above all other gods and kings, because he gave you the power to explain this mystery."

The God we worship can save us from you and your flaming furnace.

I am glad to tell about the wonderful miracles God Most High has done for me.

He was anxious and shouted, "Daniel, you were faithful and served your God. Was he able to save you from the lions?"

Daniel answered, "Your Majesty, I hope you live forever!

"This king will speak evil of God Most High, and he will be cruel to God's chosen ones. He will try to change God's Law and the sacred seasons. And he will be able to do this for a time, two times, and half a time.

The girl followed Paul and the rest of us and kept yelling, "These men are servants of the Most High God! They are telling you how to be saved."

But Paul told the police, "We are Roman citizens, and the Roman officials had us beaten in public without giving us a trial. They threw us into jail. Now do they think they can secretly send us away? No, they cannot! They will have to come here themselves and let us out."

I belong to God, and I worship him. Last night he sent an angel

I am not trying to please people. I want to please God. Do you think I am trying to please people? If I were doing that, I would not be a servant of Christ.

But you are the LORD's people, because he led you through fiery trials and rescued you from Egypt.

The army got ready for battle and crossed the Jordan. They marched quickly past the sacred chest and into the desert near Jericho. Forty thousand soldiers from the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and East Manasseh led the way, as Moses had ordered. The priests stayed right where they were until the army had followed the orders that the LORD had given Moses and Joshua. Then the army watched as the priests carried the chest the rest of the way across.

From the throne a voice said, "If you worship and fear our God, give praise to him, no matter who you are."
