Jeroboam never regained his power during the rest of Abijah's rule. The LORD punished Jeroboam, and he died, but Abijah became more powerful.

He was king of Israel for twenty-two years, then he died, and his son Nadab became king.

Asa became king of Judah in the twentieth year of Jeroboam's rule in Israel,

Abijah kept up his attack on Jeroboam's army and captured the Israelite towns of Bethel, Jeshanah, and Ephron, as well as the villages around them.

Abijah had a total of fourteen wives, twenty-two sons, and sixteen daughters.

"Ezekiel, son of man, I will suddenly take the life of the person you love most. But I don't want you to complain or cry.

At once an angel from the Lord struck him down because he took the honor that belonged to God. Later, Herod was eaten by worms and died.

Ten days later, the LORD took his life.

As surely as the LORD lives, the LORD will kill Saul, or Saul will die a natural death or be killed in battle.
