Whenever these soldiers went to war against their enemies, they prayed to God and trusted him to help. That's why the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and East Manasseh defeated the Hagrites and their allies.

God helped him defeat the Philistines, the Arabs living in Gur-Baal, and the Meunites.

The LORD listened to Manasseh's prayer and saw how sorry he was, and so he let him go back to Jerusalem and rule as king. Manasseh knew from then on that the LORD was God.

So we went without food and asked God himself to protect us, and he answered our prayers.

The LORD protects his people, and they can come to him in times of trouble.

The LORD helps them and saves them from the wicked because they run to him.

Everyone who honors your name can trust you, because you are faithful to all who depend on you.

The Israelites out-fought the Amalekites as long as Moses held up his arms, but they started losing whenever he had to lower them.

Don't fall into the trap of being a coward-- trust the LORD, and you will be safe.

The king was relieved to hear Daniel's voice, and he gave orders for him to be taken out of the pit. Daniel's faith in his God had kept him from being harmed.

Any one of you can defeat a thousand enemy soldiers, because the LORD God fights for you, just as he promised.

Saul sent the guards back and told them, "Get David out of his bed and bring him to me, so I can have him killed."

The Philistines were so badly beaten that it was quite a while before they attacked Israel again. After the battle, Samuel set up a monument between Mizpah and the rocky cliffs. He named it "Help Monument" to remind Israel how much the LORD had helped them. For as long as Samuel lived, the LORD helped Israel fight the Philistines.
