David also chose Zadok the priest and his relatives who were priests to serve at the LORD's sacred tent at Gibeon.
Zadok the son of Ahitub, and Abiathar the son of Ahimelech, were the priests. Seraiah was the secretary.
But Zadok the priest, Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, Nathan the prophet, Shimei, Rei, and David's bodyguards all refused.
The most important shrine was in Gibeon, and Solomon had offered more than a thousand sacrifices on that altar.

David called together these six Levites and the two priests, Zadok and Abiathar.
because he was afraid of the angel's sword and did not want to go all the way to Gibeon. That's where the sacred tent that Moses had made in the desert was kept, as well as the altar where sacrifices were offered to the LORD.
Solomon then left Gibeon and returned to Jerusalem, the capital city of Israel.
