The Lord said to Aaron, “You, your sons, and your ancestral family  , will be responsible for iniquity against the sanctuary. You and your sons will be responsible for iniquity involving your priesthood.

It will be on Aaron’s forehead so that Aaron may bear the guilt  connected with the holy offerings that the Israelites consecrate as all their holy gifts. It is always to be on his forehead, so that they may find acceptance with the Lord.

He himself bore our sins  in his body  on the tree;  so that, having died to sins,  we might live for righteousness.  By his wounds   , you have been healed.

Obey your leaders  and submit to them, since they keep watch  over your souls as those who will give an account, so that they can do this with joy and not with grief, for that would be unprofitable for you.

For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who has been tempted in every way as we are,  yet without sin.

After his anguish, he will see light  and be satisfied. By his knowledge, my righteous  servant  will justify many, and he will carry their iniquities.

We all went astray like sheep; we all have turned to our own way; and the Lord has punished him for  the iniquity  of us all.

Anyone who comes near the Lord’s tabernacle will die.  Will we all perish? ”

Moses placed the staffs before the Lord in the tent of the testimony.

Write Aaron’s name on Levi’s staff, because there is to be one staff for the head of each tribe.

You will bear the consequences of your iniquities forty years based on the number of the forty days that you scouted the land, a year for each day.  , You will know my displeasure.

They must keep my instruction,  or they will be guilty and die because they profane it; I am the Lord who sets them apart.

by letting the people eat their holy offerings and having them bear the penalty of restitution.  For I am the Lord who sets them apart.”

“Bring the tribe of Levi near and present them to the priest Aaron to assist him.

He has brought you near, and all your fellow Levites who are with you, but you are pursuing the priesthood  as well.

“The contribution of their gifts also belongs to you. I have given all the Israelites’ presentation offerings  to you and to your sons and daughters as a permanent statute.  Every ceremonially clean person in your house may eat it.

“At that time the Lord set apart the tribe of Levi  to carry the ark of the Lord’s covenant, to stand before the Lord to serve him, and to pronounce blessings in his name, as it is today.

Micah consecrated the Levite, and the young man became his priest  and lived in Micah’s house.

“Then lie down on your left side and place the iniquity  of the house of Israel on it. You will bear their iniquity for the number of days you lie on your side.
