Now the people began complaining openly before  the Lord about hardship. When the Lord heard, his anger burned,  and fire  from the Lord blazed among them and consumed the outskirts of the camp.

The people spoke against God and Moses: “Why have you led us up from Egypt to die in the wilderness? There is no bread or water, and we detest this wretched food! ”

Elijah responded, “If I am a man of God, may fire come down from heaven and consume you and your fifty men.” So a divine fire  came down from heaven and consumed him and his fifty men.

Fire also came out from the Lord and consumed the 250 men who were presenting the incense.

“You continued to provoke the Lord at Taberah, Massah, and Kibroth-hattaavah.

Then fire came from the Lord   and consumed them, and they died before the Lord.

Then Moses told Aaron, “Say to the entire Israelite community, ‘Come before the Lord, for he has heard your complaints.’ ”

These people are discontented grumblers, living according to their desires;  their mouths utter arrogant words, flattering  people for their own advantage.

And don’t grumble  as some of them did,  , and were killed by the destroyer.  ,

Indeed! Topheth has been ready for the king for a long time. Its funeral pyre is deep and wide, with plenty of fire and wood. The breath of the Lord,  like a torrent of burning sulfur, kindles it.

He was still speaking when another messenger came and reported, “God’s fire fell from heaven.  It burned the sheep and the servants and devoured them, and I alone have escaped to tell you! ”

When the time of mourning ended, David had her brought to his house. She became his wife and bore him a son. However, the Lord considered what David had done to be evil.

For fire has been kindled because of my anger and burns to the depths of Sheol; it devours the land and its produce, and scorches the foundations of the mountains.

and in the morning you will see the Lord’s glory because he has heard your complaints about him. For who are we that you complain about us? ”

The sinners in Zion are afraid; trembling seizes the ungodly: “Who among us can dwell with a consuming fire? Who among us can dwell with ever-burning flames?   ”

They set out from the mountain of the Lord on a three-day journey with the ark of the Lord’s covenant traveling ahead of them for those three days to seek a resting place for them.

What he did was evil in the Lord’s sight, so he put him to death also.

Look! The pay that you withheld from the workers  who mowed your fields cries out, and the outcry of the harvesters has reached the ears of the Lord of Armies.

for our God is a consuming fire.

The mountains quake before him, and the hills melt; the earth trembles  , at his presence — the world and all who live in it.

Why should any living person complain, any man, because of the punishment for his sins?

They met you along the way and attacked all your stragglers from behind when you were tired and weary. They did not fear God.

“Tell the people: Consecrate yourselves in readiness for tomorrow, and you will eat meat because you wept in the Lord’s hearing, ‘Who will feed us meat? We were better off in Egypt.’ The Lord will give you meat and you will eat.

All the Israelites complained about Moses and Aaron,  and the whole community told them, “If only we had died in the land of Egypt, or if only we had died in this wilderness!

none of the men who have seen my glory and the signs I performed in Egypt and in the wilderness, and have tested me these ten times and did not obey me,

“How long must I endure this evil community that keeps complaining about me? I have heard the Israelites’ complaints that they make against me.

Tell them: As I live #— #this is the Lord’s declaration #— #I will do to you exactly as I heard you say.

Therefore, it is you and all your followers who have conspired against the Lord!  As for Aaron, who is he  that you should complain about him? ”

The staff of the man I choose will sprout, and I will rid myself of the Israelites’ complaints that they have been making about you.”

Israel’s Light will become a fire, and its Holy One, a flame. In one day it will burn and consume Assyria’s thorns and thistles.

Just as I entered into judgment with your ancestors in the wilderness of the land of Egypt,  so I will enter into judgment with you. This is the declaration of the Lord God.

Plague goes before him, and pestilence follows in his steps.

They said, “Does the Lord speak only through Moses? Does he not also speak through us? ” And the Lord heard it.
